bullet Students Develop Android Phone App for UMaine Navigation

As use of cell phones is banned in some university classrooms, one course at the University of Maine requires them. Robert King, Jason Monk, Jerry Zhu, and Dr. Yifeng Zhu have developed this free smart phone application to better manage campus life. read more

bullet Rocket Launched to Test Wireless Sensors in Harsh Environments

Ali Abedi, along with several ECE students from his lab, worked on the payload and participated in launching a rocket to test wireless sensors in harsh environments. This project was done in collaboration with Cal State Long Beach and GSC Corp. and funded by NASA through a Maine Space Grant and a California Space Grant (See Video)

bullet First Android Phone App Released

A free software tool for managing academic life at the University of Maine is released in Android Market. It allows faculty and students to view course weekly schedule, meeting location, textbook, and faculty/staff contact information. The tool also provides maps of building and parking to help visitors and new students navigate the campus. software

bullet Portable Lunar Habitat

The Electrical and Computer Engineering Department in collaboration with the Mechanical Engineering Department and the University of Southern Maine unveiled impressive new technology as a portable lunar habitat from NASA was assembled at UMaine (See Video)
