Current Draw of CSL computers
I used a "Watts Up? Pro"
Power Analyzer and Data Logger to gather
these statistics. I logged the results to a Linux machine.
"Domori" style nodes
Peak draw is just under 3A. Typically we put 5 or 6 machines on a 20A
circuit. We currently have 45 of these machines.
- 4 Cores per machine (2 Intel Xeon Pentium D processors with 2 cores each,
running at 3.46GHz, hyperthreading is disabled)
- 4GB of RAM
- One 120GB SATA drive per node
- Gigabit Ethernet
Sampaka and Cluizel style nodes
Peak draw is just under 2A. Typically we put 10 machines on a 20A
circuit. We currently have 80 of these machines.
- 2 cores per machine (2 Intel Pentium 4 Xeon processors, running at
2.8GHz, hyperthreading is disabled)
- 2GB of RAM
- No hard drive (runs over network)
- Sampaka has gigabit ethernet, Cluizel has 100MB ethernet
Summary
We currently need 8 additional 20A outlets in B20 to turn on our current
machines (20 of sampaka and 33 of domori are currently turned off).
If we move any machines from Rhodes 361, or acquire any future machines,
then we will require additional outlets.
